ProSauce Ltd appoints James Day as Managing Director

ProSauce Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of James Day as Managing Director, as the business prepares to scale its high-protein ingredient solution across care, healthcare, food service, community, retail and direct-to-consumer markets.

Founded by Stella West-Harling MBE, ProSauce has been developed as a food-first nutritional solution to help increase protein intake through familiar everyday meals. Its initial product format provides 12g of plant-based protein per serving, offering a practical, good-tasting and low-cost way to enrich meals without asking people to change how they eat.

The product has been designed to support sectors where improved protein intake is an immediate and growing need, including care homes, hospitals, hospices, community kitchens, food service providers and consumers seeking simple protein enrichment through everyday food.

ProSauce has already generated growing interest through clinical trials over recent years, sample requests and early use across care, hospice, hospital and community settings. This includes interest from care home groups, use at Rowcroft Hospice, community lunch-clubs, community Cafe hubs receiving direct feedback and wider enquiries from organisations looking for accessible, food-led protein solutions.

Stella West-Harling MBE, Founder of ProSauce Ltd, said: “ProSauce is the result of years of hard work, determination and government backed research, development and determination to create a food-first nutritional solution that can make a genuine difference to people’s lives.

“I have known James for several years through his work with ICSA and the wider hospitality and food education sector, alongside food led charities. I have seen first-hand his ability to build trusted relationships, communicate clearly, open doors and turn ideas into practical commercial opportunities.

“As interest in ProSauce continues to grow, I felt the time was right to bring James in as Managing Director to help guide the business through its next stage. His experience across hospitality, business development, food service, accreditations and marketing makes him ideally placed to help us scale ProSauce while protecting the values and purpose behind the product.”

James Day brings extensive experience across hospitality, food service, marketing, customer experience and business development, with a strong track record supporting hospitality operators, Michelin and TV chefs, cookery schools, food service partners, sector-led organisations and charity food accreditation schemes, including The Vegetarian Society and Coeliac UK.

Through his work with the Independent Cookery Schools Association, Coeliac UK, The Vegetarian Society and wider hospitality networks, James has developed a strong understanding of food-led education, consumer trust, accreditation, sector partnerships and the importance of creating practical, commercially relevant solutions that work in real operational settings.

James Day, Managing Director of ProSauce Ltd, said:

“I have had the pleasure of knowing Stella for many years. ProSauce is the result of years of her hard work, determination and government backed research. Stella’s recognition at the Women in Food & Drink Awards reflects what many of us already know — she is a determined, thoughtful and highly credible food innovator whose work has always been driven by purpose, nutrition and the needs of real people.

“ProSauce is a high-protein ingredient solution with clear relevance across care, healthcare, food service, community settings, retail and direct-to-consumer markets. Demand is already there, and my role is to help manage the increasing enquiries, build the right partnerships and support the business as it scales.

“My immediate focus will be on strengthening our route into care, NHS, hospice, community food and food service markets, while developing the foundations for retail and consumer growth. ProSauce offers a familiar, practical and low-cost way to add 12g of plant-based protein per serving into everyday meals — and that is where I believe its wider value can be delivered.”

Stella West-Harling MBE was recently Highly Commended in the Product Developer of the Year category at the Women in Food & Drink Awards 2026, recognising her long-standing commitment to food innovation, nutrition and community benefit.

The appointment marks an important next step for ProSauce Ltd as it looks to build on its research, early sector interest and product validation, while developing the partnerships, distribution and market presence needed to bring its wider benefits to more people and organisations.
